About the CD: This first compilation cd is a celebration of the sound of the underground, a mere slice of the varied selection of music that can be found every weekend at the Sullivan Room. In the face of ever changing popular trends, Sullivan Room remains after four years one of New York’s last venues devoted to the underground music scene. Serving as both the launch pad for young local DJ careers and the landing pad for internationally renowned talent, the Sullivan Room provides a home to both musicians and electronic dance music aficionados alike. The club was revamped in 2005, undergoing a minor facelift and receiving a new VISION soundsystem, yet it remains an intimate venue that allows DJs to connect with the dancefloor. Critically acclaimed, the Sullivan Room was twice nominated for Club World Award’s “People’s Choice” Nightstalker Award, winning in 2005. Other awards include “Best Dancefloor” in 2003 and the #3 Club in New York City in 2005. An underground legend, Sullivan Room artists have included Behrouz, Richie Hawtin, Danny Howells, Adam Beyer, Litte Louie Vega, Danny “Buddha” Morales. Christian Smith, Misstress Barbara, The Scumfrog, Satoshi Tomiie, Hector Romero, Hipp-E, DJ Heather, D:Fuse, John Aquaviva, John Tejada, Dr. Kucho, Goldie, Charles Feelgood, and many many more. We would like to thank the producers and DJs who provided the tracks for this compilation, DJ Fame for compiling and mixing it, Sergei Skliarenko for giving the underground in NYC a home on Sullivan Street, and all the members of the Sullivan Room Family for making each night a success. Fame currently holds the longest running residency at Sullivan Room, helping the club to open its doors in 2002. Through this residency, he consistently brings internationally acclaimed DJs to the decks, helping the club maintain its status as an underground house music legend. His monthly event, “The Review,” is one of the most successful nights at Sullivan Room, featuring tech-house headliners such as Evil Eddie Richards, David Mothersole, Lele Sacchi, Tom Parris, Mazi, JB & Darren Roach, Charles Feelgood, Adultnapper & David Hollands, and many more. From this residency at New York’s premier underground venue to guest sets in virtually every corner of America, the Dominican Republic, Europe, and Russia, Fame continues to keep dance floors moving ‘til the lights come up! Amos Damon’s (DJ Fame) enduring passion for all genres of music comes from the artists he admires, the influence of his peers, and from his youth. In his early teens, Fame was introduced to electronic dance music and had an instant attraction to it. He took notice of different DJs’ technical abilities and styles, and realizing how important the DJ is to the party, he learned about controlling the crowd. The final product was the birth of DJ Fame and his unique blend of hard, funky tech-house synthesized with cuts, scratches and turntable tricks that has been showcased at clubs and parties around the globe.
